COMMUNITY COLLEGES USA

COMMUNITY COLLEGES for INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

If you have completed secondary level school in your country and would like to undertake your university level studies in the United States, the ASIAMERICA Community College program might just be what you are looking for.

The ASIAMERICA Community College program provides students from around the globe with the opportunity to pursue university level academic studies while living with a carefully selected host family in a community that reflects the values that made the United States the country it is today.

ASIAMERICA has selected a number of community colleges across the USA that offer the academic course work, have earned regional accreditation requirements, and have committed the resources of a campus coordinator to assist ASIAMERICA students.

The ASIAMERICA Community College program has a special system to match your needs and objectives with the strengths and programs available at participating colleges. A team of representatives from the different colleges review your application to find the college that matches your educational goals with the specific strengths and academic programs offered.

Program orientations and enrichment activities are arranged for you and approximately ten to twenty other ASIAMERICA students from around the world to learn not only your preferred field of study, but also about life in the US and your surrounding community.

PROGRAM OPTIONS

In addition to selecting your area of study, you can choose from several programs:

English Language program: This intensive English as a second language (ESL) and homestay experience is designed to improve English language skills. The program begins each January and lasts one academic semester. The program includes 15 to 20 credit hours of intensive English language instruction.

Academic Semester program: This academic and homestay exchange experience is designed to offer academic and career training courses in a variety of subject areas. The program begins each January and lasts for one academic semester (approximately 16 weeks in length). The academic load is 12 credit hours for the semester (equivalent to about four courses).

Certificate Program: This program is designed to offer academic and career training in a variety of subject areas for an entire academic year. The academic load is 12 credit hours per semester.

Degree Program: This two-year Associate Degree and homestay experience is designed to provide career skills for those who are returning home, while also offering transferability of credits to a USA four-year college or university. After the first academic year living with a host family, students live independently in apartments during their second year. The program includes a total of 64 credit hours of tuition.

Four Year College program: This program provides students who start in a ASIAMERICA college program, the opportunity to transfer the academic coursework toward a four year university. This is an extension of the Degree program, so at the end of the four-year college program students will have obtained the Associate degree and the four-year college degree. Students live with a host family during the first academic year.
